Kappa Alpha Psi Recognizes Citizen of the Year, Polemarch and Kappa Man of The Year

Sarasota (FL) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. recently recognized Apostle Deondrick G. Douglas as their 2025 Citizens of the Year for Manatee Counties for their positive impact in the community. Darren L. Gambrell was also named Kappa Man of the Year and Keenan Wooten received the Polemarch Man of the Year award at the Fraternity’s annual awards recognition program.

Apostle Douglas was educated in Manatee County and furthered his education at Springfield College, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services. He went on to earn his Master of Arts in Counseling with an emphasis in School Guidance and Counseling from Webster University. Apostle Douglas returned to Bradenton in 2004 where he established Empowerment Christian Center. With a desire to create and lead a more kingdom-minded culture, he established Champion’s Life International Church in Ruskin, Florida in November 2011. His ministry now includes Champion’s Life – Hispanic International Ministries, (H.I.M.), and Champion’s Preparatory Academy Zambia, Africa.

Apostle Deondrick G. Douglas

As Kappa Man of the Year, Gambrell was chosen by nominations from the membership for his excellent work in all things related to Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. He also serves as the Fraternity’s Polemarch. The Polemarch Award is chosen at the discretion of the Polemarch and Wooten was recognized for his excellent work in all things Kappa Alpha Psi.
