APRIL GLASCO SELECTED AS BRAWNY® GIANT FOR HER WORK AT SECOND CHANCE LAST OPPORTUNITY
Brawny® believes that strength lies in the action we take. In tough times there are people who will do nothing, but there are others who step up and go above and beyond to help others. Brawny® believes that those who take action in the face of adversity are “giants.” Brawny® has established the Brawny® Giants Initiative to assist individuals who are making a true difference in their communities and has committed to support these individuals across the country over the next few months.
Dr, April Glasco, founder and CEO of SECOND CHANCE LAST OPPORTUNITY, came to the attention of the Brawny® Giants Initiative by how she and her dedicated volunteers assist the citizens of Newtown and surrounding communities. “With onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, the need for food, personal care items and new-baby needs has grown tremendously,” says Dr. Glasco. “Citizens have lost their jobs, and single mothers now must provide breakfast and lunch for their kids, who used to receive these meals at school. People are desperate” The Brawny® Giants Initiative will send $10,000.00 to SECOND CHANCE, as well as 600 rolls of Brawny® Paper Towel. “These gifts are so appreciated,” according to Glasco.
“We have generous donors and small businesses who contribute to us, but we use our monetary donations to fill the holes in our donations.”
The mission of SECOND CHANCE LAST OPPORTUNITY is to serve as a gateway to hope to persons whose lives have been broken by abuse, abandonment, and/or addiction. The citizens have known April Glasco for more than 25 years. She greets them, chats with them and hands them their individual orders. In so doing, she instills trust in her organization. After the current crisis has passed, these citizens will return for Life Skills training classes, where participants learn how to restore their self-esteem and to be independent.
