BOOKER TORNADOES MAKING HISTORY BY WINNING BACK-TO-BACK REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Dear Booker Nation, What an incredible 2024 football season for the Booker Tornadoes! Our team had a season to remember, finishing with an impressive 10-4 record, claiming the District Title, and making history by winning backto-back Regional Championships for the first time in school history. The Tornadoes showcased heart, determination, and excellence, coming within one game of the state championship.
A Record-Breaking Offense
The Tornadoes’ offense was a fast-paced, high-octane machine that lit up scoreboards, amassing a staggering 688 points on the season. This explosive unit was led by Senior Quarterback Ryan Downes, who threw for 2,845 yards and 31 touchdowns, carving up defenses’ week after week.
In the receiving corps, Junior WR Tyren Wortham was a standout, tallying 65 catches for 1,250 yards and 18 touchdowns, while Junior WR Dylan Wester contributed over 800 allpurpose yards. Freshman phenom Tyree Mannings Jr. turned heads, racking up 1,300 all-purpose yards, proving the future is bright for the Tornadoes.
On the ground, the Tornadoes unleashed a dynamic duo in DJ Johnson and Rashawn Peterson, who combined for over 1,800 rushing yards. Up front, the offense was anchored by Senior Alex Diaz, whose physicality and leadership made the Tornadoes one of the most explosive offenses in the state.
Dominant and Relentless Defense
On defense, the Tornadoes were as tough as they come, delivering multiple shutouts and keeping opposing offenses in check all season long.
Senior Defensive Lineman Jordan Radkey led the charge with 80 tackles, 30 tackles for loss, and 10 sacks.
Junior Kevontay Hugan terrorized offenses with 28 tackles for loss and 16 sacks.
The secondary was locked down by the Junior tandem of Chauncey Kennon and Dylan Wester. Kennon was a shutdown corner all year, and Wester did not allow a single touch-down in coverage.
Junior Ray Hayes anchored the defense with 90 tackles, while Junior Torry Holloman was a playmaker, scoring six defensive touchdowns.
Thank You, Booker Nation!
We want to extend our deepest gratitude to the parents, donors, community, staff, and administration for your unwavering support throughout the season. Your energy and encouragement fueled our success and helped us achieve greatness.
