BREA STYLES NAMED NEW CHILD SUPPORT PROGRAM DIRECTOR IN MANATEE COUNTY

The Manatee County Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller recently appointed Brea Styles as Director of the Child Support Program. She succeeds Crystal Waiters who retired on August 2nd after a 32-year career with the Clerk’s Office. Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller Angel Colonneso expressed her gratitude and pride in both Waiters’ and Styles’ contributions. “Crystal Waiters has been an invaluable asset to our office, dedicating over three decades to serving our community with unwavering commitment and excellence,” she said. “While we will miss her greatly, we are excited to see Brea Styles step into this role. Brea has already demonstrated her leadership and dedication, and I am confident she will continue to enhance our services and support for Manatee County families.”

Styles officially stepped into her new position on August 5th. She previously served as the Deputy Director of the Child Support Program, where she excelled in recruiting, retaining, and developing staff to meet the division’s operational demands. She has been with the Clerk’s office for 26 years, starting as a Case Manager before being appointed as a Senior Case Manager. She worked as Supervisor for 11 years until her appointment as Deputy Director in 2020. She is dedicated to continuing to support Manatee County families and delivering exceptional customer service in her new role. She will have a staff of 50 under her supervision.

“I am extremely proud of the team that I have and for their continued support,” Styles said. “This team will allow us to soar each and every day for the families and children we serve to ensure that they receive the support they deserve. This will always be paramount to us and will allow us to write the next remarkable chapter in our department’s legacy.’

Styles is a member of the Boosters Club at her alma mater, Southeast High School. She was “Miss Southeast” for 1992-1993. After graduation, she attended Bethune-Cookman University and went on to graduate from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Social Science. She is a graduate of Leadership Manatee and a member of the Bradenton Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority where she serves as corresponding secretary and co-chair of the Sorority’s Delta Academy. She and her husband, Jonathan, have three children, Jonisha, Jazmin and Jonathan, Jr. (Deuce). The Styles family members are all alumni of Bethune-Cookman University. “We are all things Seminoles, Wildcats and Buccaneers’, Brea said.

About the Clerk’s Child Support Program: Since 1985, the Manatee Clerk of Circuit Court & Comptroller has administered the Child Support Program. The department offers a range of comprehensive case management, including locating parents responsible for the support of a child, establishing paternity, and obtaining, enforcing, and modifying child support orders.
