Freestyle Explosion Returns To Tampa With Exposé, Stevie B, Lisa Lisa And More
TAMPA, FL – The biggest names in freestyle music return to Tampa. See female pop sensation Exposé, the king of freestyle Stevie B., the queens of freestyle Lisa Lisa and The Original Cover Girls and freestyle icon Shannon, perform their biggest rhythmic dance hits during Freestyle Explosion at the Yuengling Center on Saturday, September 14 at 7:30 PM.
The tour of 10 artists and groups also includes The Jets, plus freestyle favorites Johnny O, Cynthia, Linear featuring Joey Restivo and Connie. This lineup influenced the ‘80s with their style and pop music of which remains widely popular and in rotation with today’s hits.
Stevie B. A singer-songwriter and producer who was influential in the Latin freestyle music scene of the late ‘80s and is best known for his No. 1 ballad “Because I Love You”. He is also known for party jams like Spring Love, Party Your Body, I Wanna Be the One and Dreaming of Love.
Lisa Lisa Lisa Lisa rose to fame with the certified gold single I Wonder If I Take You Home, which was released along with her band Cult Jam and huge follow up hits such as Can You Feel The Beat, Head To Toe, Lost In Emotion and the smash ballad All Cried Out. Exposé Exposé achieved much of their success in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s when they became the first group to have four top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart from their debut album, which included their No. 1 single Seasons Change. Their other major hits include Point of No Return, Come Go with Me and Let Me Be the One. The Original Cover Girls A New York-based freestyle group who achieved chart success in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s with hit songs Show Me, Because of You, My Heart Skips a Beat and We Can’t Go Wrong. This will be their first time performing in Tampa in almost 10 years. Linear Linear, featuring founding member Joey Restivo, emerged from the Miami dance-pop scene in the late ‘80s. The group’s song Sending All My Love became a top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 for Linear when it was picked up by Atlantic Records in 1990. The group has performed all over the world with songs like Don’t You Come Cryin’ and T.L.C. Shannon Shannon is best known for her certified gold and No. 1 hit Let The Music Play as well as Billboard dance hit and standout single Give Me Tonight. She is also considered to be one of the pioneers for the freestyle movement as well as for her high energy dance and choreography.
The Jets A family-band from Minneapolis, Minnesota who had great success in the ‘80s. The group enjoyed worldwide success during the years 1985-1990, performing three world tours and producing eight top 10 hits such as Crush On You, You’ve Got it All, Make it Real and Rocket 2U. Connie The Miami-native is best known for her hits Funky Little Beat and Rock Me, both making it onto freestyle charts. Connie has performed with music legends Kool & The Gang, Evelyn Champagne King, Morris Day, Vanilla Ice, MC Shy D, Sugarhill Gang, Taylor Dayne and more. Johnny O Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, is considered one of freestyle’s most prolific performers.
