Sarasota, We Want To Hear From You!

At The Bay, we’re building a public park on Sarasota Bay that welcomes the full diversity of our community. As we build the park, we are offering a range of free programs, activities and events for people of all ages and backgrounds. The question we keep asking ourselves is – what will people want to do in the park when it’s open? That’s why we’re asking you to share your opinions! Tell us what you’d like to see and do in your park.

Do you like to run? Play sports? Take your kids or grandkids to the playground? Let your needs be known by filling out a quick, 5 minute survey designed to gather input from the community so that our team can better understand the wants and needs of park-goers. The survey is available in both English and Spanish through the end of August. Visit www.TheBaySurvey.org to take it.

What’s The Bay?

The Bay is a partnership between the community, the city and a non profit park conservancy that aims to conserve and transform 53 acres of city-owned land into a signature public park situated on Sarasota Bay.  The park is located in downtown Sarasota, west of Tamiami Trail (US 41) between 10th Street and Boulevard of the Arts.

The plans for the park will transform city-owned property that is largely a parking lot into a vast green space that welcomes the full diversity of Sarasota. From access to water, nature, wildlife and waterfront sunsets, The Bay is open, accessible, free and welcoming to all.

Phase 1 of the park is currently under construction and you can already experience some of the transformation to a blue and green oasis, celebrating nature and promoting environmental sustainability. Your input is valuable, aiding in this transformation – that is why we want to hear from you!

Visit us to immerse yourself in nature and waterfront views by taking a stroll on our newly opened Mangrove Bayou Walkway or step foot in our serene Fountain Garden to relax and enjoy a book. These are just two of the park features open to the public with more to come.
