Scholarships and Book Awards Presented

Several community organizations presented scholarships and book awards to students in the community.

Electa Lee Magnet Middle School: held their awards ceremony, recognizing students in various areas of achievement. Keenan Wooten was honored to have the Keenan Wooten Athletic Award named in his honor. The award exemplifies a student’s academic success, leadership and character on and off the field. Several students were recognized at the athletic banquet for the 20242025 school year: Bella Gifford, and Brooke Davis, Cross Country; Isaac Jimenez, Boys Soccer; Sariah Hird, Girls Basketball; Tremaine Anderson, Boys Basketball, Alanna Pate, Girls Volleyball and Vincent Virgalla, Flag Football.

Butterflies and Dreams Book Club Award: Butterflies and Dreams Book Club consists of predominantly Black women who share a passion for literature. This year’s book award recipients were Ira Jerome Jenkins, Jr., Out of Door Academy, Nazaria Aliza Dawkins, Sarasota High School, Savannah R. Ivery, Booker High School, Laylah Hines, Southeast High School and Amari Lopez, Sarasota Military Academy.
