Supervisor of elections schedules voter registration drives to highlight National Voter Registration Day
SARASOTA, FL – In observance of National Voter Registration Day, September 25, 2018, the Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections office has scheduled a number of voter drives in the county to help people register to vote in time for the November 6 general election.
“The right to vote is one of our most important freedoms,” Supervisor of Elections Ron Turner said. “So, in recognition of the 2018 National Voter Registration campaign, we want to highlight the importance of participating in the electoral process and give people another opportunity to register to vote or to update their voter records. I encourage all citizens to register and make their voices heard at the ballot box this November 6,” he added.
The following voter registration drives are scheduled: Tuesday, September 25
• Selby Public Library, 1331 1st St, Sarasota, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
•New College, Sudakoff Conference Center, 5845 General Dougher Pl, Sarasota, 11:30 a.m.
– 1:30 p.m.
• Englewood Sports Complex, 1300 S. River Rd., Englewood, 1 – 4 p.m.
•North Port Library, 13800 S. Tamiami Trail, North Port, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
•Shannon Staub Library, 4675 Career Lane, North Port, 2 – 4 p.m.
Wednesday, September 26 North Port Area Chamber of Commerce Candidate Forum, VFW Post 8203, 4860 Trott Cir., North Port, 5:30–7:30 p.m.
Thursday, September 27 Sarasota County Schools’ Fall College Night, Robarts Arena, 3000 Ringling Blvd., Sarasota, 6 – 8 p.m.
In addition to the opportunities listed above, persons may apply for voter registration Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily at any of the three elections offices in Sarasota (2001 Adams Lane), Venice (4000 Tamiami Trail South), or North Port (13640 Tamiami Trail). A voter registration application may also be completed and submitted online at RegistertoVoteFlorida.gov, or downloaded from the Sarasota County elections website at SarasotaVotes.com.
