Ranking Notes

  • Not listed in reviewed snapshot means a team did not appear in the specific MaxPreps ranking category reviewed for this chart. It does not mean that the program is unranked across every MaxPreps category or local comparison.
  • Not directly comparable applies primarily to independent, specialized, and private-school programs whose schedules or classifications do not align neatly with standard FHSAA public-school comparisons.
  • IMG Academy remains marked with an asterisk because it operates as an independent national program. Its national-level schedule and recruiting profile should not be directly compared with a typical local FHSAA program.
  • Out-of-Door Academy, Saint Stephen’s Episcopal, Bradenton Christian and Wellen Park are marked with an asterisk because their private-school or SSAA competitive structures make direct comparison with FHSAA public-school classifications imperfect.
  • Venice’s current MaxPreps listing shows the Indians at No. 12 in Florida, No. 2 in Class 6A and No. 42 nationally after their 57–33 win over Sarasota. (MAXPREPS)
  • Sarasota’s latest reviewed listing shows the Sailors at No. 206 in Florida and No. 40 in Class 6A. (MAXPREPS)
  • Bradenton Christian’s current listing shows the Panthers at No. 3 in Florida’s SSAA eight-man ranking and No. 241 nationally. (MAXPREPS)
  • The Area Rank and Movement columns remain Tempo News editorial judgments based on record, schedule strength, quality wins, recent performance, head-to-head context and overall program profile.

Tempo News’ Area Top 12 is an editorial ranking. MaxPreps Florida, classification and national rankings are computer-generated comparison points reviewed September 27–28, 2026. Rankings may change as scores, corrections and team records are updated. Programs marked with an asterisk operate in an independent, private-school or specialized competitive setting and may not have directly comparable classification rankings.

Editorial rationale for Week 6 movement

  • Out-of-Door Academy rises two spots after improving to 6–0 with a convincing 46–7 road win over IMG Academy State.
  • Manatee rises two spots following a meaningful 30–27 district road win over Sumner.
  • Braden River drops two spots after the 62–7 loss to Cardinal Mooney, though the Pirates remain a quality 4–1 team.
  • Sarasota drops two spots after losing to unbeaten Venice, but the Sailors’ 33-point effort against a top Class 6A program keeps them in the Top 12.
  • Saint Stephen’s Episcopal moves up after its 62–0 shutout of Marco Island Academy.
  • Bradenton Christian remains in the rankings despite a close loss to Sports Leadership & Management; the Panthers’ 5–2 record and strong SSAA eight-man standing continue to support their placement.
  • Wellen Park enters at No. 12 after improving to 4–1 with a 38–26 win over Bayshore.
  • Sarasota Christian falls out of the Top 12 after moving to 4–3 with its Week 6 loss to Northside Christian.
