BHS FAFSA Night – Bringing The Money

More than 75 families attended Booker’s FAFSA Night on October 23, completing the free online application as a first step on the road to funding for higher education and training.

BHS At-Risk Coordinator Khea Davis stated,

“The families that completed their FAFSA applications now have the potential to earn collectively over $450,000 in federal grants for their children interested in college or training programs.”

Community partners donated time, staff and resources to assist students, their parents and family members. Partners in the effort included Deborah Chapman, Keiser University, New College, Ringling College of Art and Design, State College of Florida, Suncoast Technical College, USF SarasotaManatee, and Unidos Now. Ms. Davis further noted,

“The best part of the evening was interacting with many parents who expressed their gratitude for the support available in this process. This was a huge success for Booker High and our students!”
