Gamma Rho Zeta Chapter Hosts Finer Womanhood Awards Brunch

The Gamma Rho Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., in partnership with Five Pearls of Excellence, Inc., held a remarkable Finer Womanhood Awards Brunch today at the Robert L. Taylor Community Center in Sarasota. Under the leadership of President Dr. Paula Beard, the event celebrated individuals whose dedication and extraordinary work exemplify the principles of the sorority.

The awards ceremony recognized outstanding contributions to the community, with the following honorees receiving accolades: Zeta of the Year – Vernisha Evans-Gibbs; Zeta Male Network of the Year Derrick Oates; Amicae of the Year – Chantle Sailes; Amicette of the Year: elementary school – Sariyah Williams; Pearlette of the Year – Sheylanni Koonce; Amicette of the Year middle school – Aaliyah Davis Williams.
Special Presidential Awards for Zeta Founding Principles were presented by President Beard to Dr. Sherika Evans, Scholarship; Bridgett Judge – Service; Kiara Randall – Sisterhood and Alma Colvin, Finer Womanhood. Two remarkable women from the community were honored at the brunch for their service. Susie Copeland was named Manatee County Woman of the Year and Angel Hayes was named Sarasota County Woman of the Year. Copeland retired from the City of Bradenton and is known for her extensive work on various community boards and organizations. Hayes is the Development Associate for The Circus Arts Conservatory.

The brunch featured a beautiful medley of spiritual music performed by the Gamma Rho Zeta choir, creating a heart-felt atmosphere for the attendees. Guests were also moved by a powerful poetry reading from Whit The Poet, adding a touch of artistry to the celebration.
The Gamma Rho Zeta Chapter highlighted their commitment to education, showcasing the thousands of dollars awarded to students throughout the years. Co – Chairs Vernish a Evans-Gibbs and Angela Hodges Lindsey expressed their gratitude to all guests for their support, which made the brunch a resounding success. The Finer Womanhood Awards Brunch not only celebrated individual achievements but also served as a reminder of the ongoing commitment to Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood and Finer Womanhood empowerment championed by Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. The food was catered by Entrees’ by Tronda.
