MANATEE COUNTRY EMT WHITE NAMED 2018 FLORIDA EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN OF THE YEAR

MANATEE COUNTY, FL (June 8, 2018) – Manatee County’s 2017 Employee of the Year, a life-saving EMT working with the County since 2009, now has statewide recognition as Florida’s EMT of the Year.

The Florida Department of Health Emergency Medical Services Awards recently announced White as this year’s winner. The EMT of the year goes to someone who “has demonstrated exceptional qualities in … quality assurance/improvement, patient care, medical control, disaster preparedness, or public education and/or training.”

“Aaron is the epitome of going above and beyond the call of duty,” says Public Safety Director Bob Smith. “His dedication and professionalism are only surpassed by the fact that he is truly a great guy to work with and be around.
He is a shining star of our department and we’re very proud of him and his achievements.”

Aaron responds to calls and cares for medical and trauma patients in northern areas of Manatee County. He provides basic life support and assists with advanced life support patients. Emergency Medical Services Chief Paul DiCicco said Aaron has an outstanding attitude and he provides much-needed levity in a stressful position.

Co-workers and supervisors describe Aaron as a dedicated, hardworking, knowledgeable and skilled clinician.

“He … renders exceptional care to the sick and injured residents and visitors in Manatee County,” says EMS Chief Paul DiCicco.

“Aaron has proven to be a dedicated employee that treats his position as an EMT as a career and not just a job. He consistently goes the extra mile without the promise of recognition or award. I personally cannot think of a more fitting candidate for the State of Florida Emergency Medical Technician of the Year,”

DiCicco says.

Each year Aaron organizes a Wii Bowling tournament at a senior independent living facility in his response district. He spends his own money to buy prizes, trophies and food for the residents who attend.

Aaron is also involved in the local Special Activities Bicycle Emergency Response (SABER) team, participating in the Desoto Heritage Parade, Bradenton Boat Regatta, and numerous special events each year.
