P-Town Annual Event Set For November 9th
C.S. Howard
Five years ago, PTown, Love Our City, brought the community together “through fellowship and kind acts of love”. The goal then, as it is now, was to make a difference in the community and help those who were less fortunate by providing meals and other resources to them. That tradition continues on Saturday, November 9th at P-Town’s annual “Love Our City” event at the Palmetto Youth Center, located at 501 17th Street West, in Palmetto. Activities will begin at 11:00 a.m. and will run until 2:00 p.m.
The organization was established in Palmetto in 2019. The vision of the organization came when President Sabrina Allen-Bragg wanted to take her passion for cooking and feeding many families to another level by involving the entire community. Allen-Bragg started a feeding ministry known as B and B’s Eatery with her mother, the late Beverly Robinson. Every Sunday they would cook and prepare massive meals and feed many in the community.
“This feeding ministry that has fed so many led to the foundation of The PTOWN – Love Our City organization,” Allen-Bragg said. “God provided the vision to bring the community of Manatee County together through food and fellowship.”
Starting out with about 7 cooks, the event has grown to over 20 different cooks participating. “We continue to touch more lives every year,” she said. “Last year we served over 700 meals and with the recent storms, we look to exceed that number this year. We do it better when we do it together.”
