Recently a delegation of 21 Manatee County 4-H’ers and adults joined close to 1,000 statewide participants to paint the capitol green at the annual 4-H Day at the Capitol in Tallahassee. The 4-H Day at the Capitol program provides youth with an opportunity to learn more about their state government and experience the political process first hand. The Manatee delegation visited Senate President Bill Galvano and Rep. Tommy Gregory and had the opportunity to share with them how 4-H has impacted their lives. Many 4-H’ers got a glimpse of Tallahassee from the 22nd floor of the Capitol Building and toured the Old State Capitol. Continuing in the learn-by-doing mode, the courtyard was filled with interactive youth-friendly exhibits such as healthy lifestyles, camping, international exchange, and giving thanks.Attending 4-H Day at the Capitol event were Leah Andrews, Cole Arrant, Mr. Tom Arrant, Holly Bergmann, Riley Bergmann, Sydney Bliss, Sorryl Cannon, Chloe Flournoy, MaKayla Huttinger, Hailey Mahoney, Merissa Mahoney, Billie Michelle Mason, Grace McGlade, Hope McGlade, Lindsay Neal, Mrs. Angelita Ortiz, Alyssa Pritchett, Arman Razavi, Erfan Razavi, Hannah Rudolph, and Maliqua Walker.

All smiles! During the recent 4-H Day at the Capitol, Rep. Tommy Gregory (center) encouraged youth to follow their passion to discovery what they really want to do in life and make a difference!
