State College of Florida Manatee’s C.J. Alexander Named FCSAA Baseball Player of the Year

BRADENTON, FL — C.J. Alexander, third baseman for the SCF Manatees was named the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) Player of the Year during a banquet Thursday night. Alexander, and teammates Zach Attianese, left-handed pitcher, and Austin James, shortstop, were named First Team AllState. State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota’s (SCF) baseball team followed Thursday night’s honors by winning its first game of the state tournament 6-2.
The SCF Manatees will play the winner of Friday’s game between Broward College and College of Central Florida. SCF is scheduled to play the winner Saturday, May 12 at 4 p.m. at Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland.
The team, which has been ranked number one in the state in the FCSAA Coaches’ Poll, had three other team members receive state honors when Jaren Shelby, outfielder; Hunter Perdue, pitcher and John Pichman, designated hitter, were all named Second Team All-State.
The winner of the state tournament will advance to the Junior College (JUCO) World Series. The state tournament games will be carried live on the FCSAA digital network at team1sports.com/fcsaa.
