Manatee County Employee Of Month For May – Latanya Neasman

LaTanya Neasman, Probation Officer in the Pre-Trial Division on Manatee County was selected as Employee of the Month for May 2018. Neasman has served as a probation officer for many years but what makes her outstanding and stand out is her commitment to the job, fellow workers and the clients and families she serves with compassion, respect, and on-going love to serve and be a light everywhere she goes. An employee is nominated by co-workers and each nomination form lists the reason why the person should be selected. Neasman’s coworkers and colleagues wrote again and again of her passion and caring attitude each and every day, on or off the job. Comments were a continual stream of accolades including descriptions of Neasman being

“One of a kind employee, the kind of leader you dream of having and co-workers hope to work with.”

Many of the nomination forms described Neasman as a person who takes pride in her work, holds herself accountable with all her actions, and her positive attitude and sunny personality is contagious in every room she walks into. The work of probation officer can be challenging and caseloads often heavy yet Neasman steps up to fill in when a staff vacancy occurs and picks up the slack. Neasman and fellow probation officer, Shenica Graham saw a need unmet in the clients they serve, so the two women gathered personal hygiene items and made up “goodie bags” to distribute to clients in need. This helpful nature and true caring and compassion for the clients Neasman is responsible for carries over to all aspects of her day to day work. Co-workers said Neasman’s door is always open to everyone, and she comes in early and stays late at work to make sure work gets done without being asked and is always on time. It is said of Neasman, her greeting to everyone including clients is a cheery, “Happy Day” and infuses the day with sunshine, caring, and one of the friendliest people in every room she enters. Neasman is responsible for the pre-trial evaluations, investigates, and supervises clients, and counseling within the Manatee County Court System. It is Neasman’s ability to effectively communicate, and remain kind with each person she interacts with as well as described as the most ethical person most people will have the good fortune to meet. As part of being chosen as employee of the month, Neasman was awarded cash prize of $100.00 and a paid day off from work.
