District Announces New Principal for McIntosh Middle School

 SARASOTA COUNTY, May 13, 2021 – Sarasota County Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of McHenry Lerebours, effectively immediately, as Principal of McIntosh Middle School, where he has served as Interim Principal since late February.

 “Mr. Lerebours is a talented educator and dynamic leader,” said Steve Cantees, executive director of Secondary Schools. “He has a genuine interest in building community, providing a stellar school climate for all, and cultivating the talents and skills of his students and colleagues alike.

We are thrilled to see him grow in his career within the Sarasota County Schools family! I know he and McIntosh Middle will continue to achieve great success.”

Mr. McHenry Lerebours has been an educator for over 15 years. He received his bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Florida A & M University and has a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of South Florida. Before assuming his current role as Interim Principal of McIntosh Middle, he served as an Assistant Principal at McIntosh Middle School since 2018. Mr. Lerebours has also served as an Assistant Principal at East Bay High School, a Multi-Tiered Systems of Support District Coordinator for Hillsborough County Public Schools, a Teacher at Progress Village Middle Magnet School of the Arts, and a Teacher for Miami Dade County Public Schools. Mr. Lerebours’ additional certifications and achievements include completion of the Future Leaders Academy, designation as a Master Trainer, being named Social Studies Teacher of the Year, and completion of the Assistant Principal Induction Program for Hillsborough County Public Schools, among others. Mr. Lerebours was most recently named the 2021 Assistant Principal of the Year by Sarasota County Schools.

He is a proud husband and father of two sons. He enjoys playing basketball with his sons and taking long walks in the park with his family.
