DORIAN UPDATE

DORIAN UPDATE 8/30/19 | School District of Manatee County officials are continuing to work with local Emergency Management to develop action plans for Hurricane Dorian. According to the latest reports, this could be a prolonged event that could extend into Tuesday, Wednesday and possibly longer.

At this point, there is still too much uncertainty in the forecast to make any decisions regarding schools being closed following the Labor Day weekend. Those decisions will be made later in the weekend and will be dictated by circumstances as they unfold.

There has been a decision to cancel all athletic events and practices on Monday and Tuesday, pending further developments.

Although there has not been any official announcement regarding schools opening as shelters, teams at schools that may be called to serve as shelter sites are making the necessary preparations.

We will continue to keep you informed by district email; Blackboard Connect-Ed phone messages and emails; our district website at manateeschools.net; on district social media sites Facebook (@WeManatee) and Twitter (@Manateeschools); and on our district mobile app MySDMC (which is available for free on the Apple App Store and Google Play).

Be Safe.
