Thanksgiving – a time of giving and sharing and a time for families to get together to enjoy each other and a great meal.  Realizing that there are many in the community who are not fortunate enough to have a meal to enjoy, Hunger for Knowledge (HKF), a group of community residents dedicated to helping those who may be less fortunate, sponsored their fifth annual turkey give-away to families in the community, with away over 200 turkeys.  Since its inception, the group has given away over 2,000 turkeys.

HKF was founded by Antonio Rivers.  A few years ago, he connected with his friend, Edward James, III to continue the legacy of giving in the community.  The organization joined efforts with other community organizations this year including the Sarasota Democratic Black Caucus, Suncoast Women of Action, Publix, Take Stock in Children of Sarasota County, Inc., Rowdy Reptowel, Frank Maggio, James Ward, Angel Cookie Hill, Kay Mathers, Melton H. Little, Michelle Bro Ghris Crain, Andre Booker, Saul Johnson, Terrell Neal and Jeremy Butler.
