Everyone is familiar with the “three-peat” mantra in sports; a four-peat, however, is hallowed ground in the world of competition for sure!  But the Sarasota Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. is setting new levels of achievement within the Fraternity.  During the 70th Southern Province Virtual Council Meeting, held September 12-13, 2020, the Sarasota Alumni Chapter was awarded their fourth consecutive Chapter of the Year (Small Chapter) Award for outstandingly strong and consistent efforts in bringing value added services to the community and the Fraternity.  This award is the highest recognition for a chapter that exemplifies the values of the Fraternity.

“2020 has been a challenging year for everyone around the country and our members have been blessed,” said Chapter Polemarch Aaron Randall II.  “COVID-19 has challenged us all to look farther outside ourselves and help others in greater need.

Our biggest challenge was executing our community help plans in the COVID environment and we think we came through with innovation, determination, and execution.

We continued to make a difference in people’s lives no matter the circumstances and we did it safely,” Randall said.

In addition to the Chapter of the Year Award, the Chapter also received the coveted Community Service Chapter of the Year Award which specifically looks at work within the community only.  “In 2020 and 2021, we will continue to present great challenges to our members and the community,” said Randall.

“We will continue to look for new and different ways to engage and serve the community while maintaining a safe environment.  Our hope is that God continues to rain down his blessings and wash away the scourge of COVID in 2021 to allow us all to prosper.

I want to thank the community, our supporters, our families, and our members for this honor.  Without the collective, we would not be able to achieve our potential.  We look forward to getting back on the streets and back out into the neighborhoods in 2021 to resume helping others in our proactive fashion,” ended Randall II.
