Kyle Scott Battie Announces His Candidacy for Sarasota City Commission, District 1

Sarasota, FL, June 12, 2020 – Candidate Kyle Scott Battie officially qualifies for Sarasota City Commission, District 1 and reports $3,476.00 in first 72 hours.

After announcing his candidacy on the evening of May 28th, Battie saw an outpouring of support in the 72 hours before the close of May’s fundraising reporting period.

“This campaign is not about me, it’s about we, and the support we’ve received since announcing our run  has been nothing short of inspiring,” says Battie.

Battie, 52, grew up in the district and graduated from Sarasota High School. He enjoys a long family history in the community. His mother, Jean Battie, was an educator who taught at Emma E. Booker for years and his is father, Henry ‘Hank’ Battie, was, at the time, one of the few African- American entrepreneurs to establish a business downtown Sarasota at the old Quay.

His priorities include easing the cost of living, improving economic opportunity for our residents, and supporting local arts and culture.
