PALMETTO YOUTH CENTER CELEBRATES DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR
The Palmetto Youth Center, under the leadership of Executive Director, Reggie Bellamy, held its annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr celebrations during MLK weekend. The Annual Banquet was a standing room only affair.
This year’s honorees were:
Dr. Sharon Jefferson, Louise Johnson Humanitarian Award
Clerk of Circuit Court Angelica Colonnesco, Government Award
Dorothy Garland, Outstanding Citizenship Award
Rachel Speight-Hudson, Small Business Award
A Special Award in Memoriam was presented to the family of Lillie Covington, former Board Member.
The first place winners of the MLK, Jr Essay & Speech Contest were: High School Nick Stanley and Middle School Laila Ward. They both received standing ovations following their speeches.
The Annual Parade and Youth Extravaganza were both held on Saturday, and the Interracial Religious Service finished out the weekend on Sunday.
