The Florida A&M University National Alumni Association Sarasota-Manatee Chapter hosted its Second Annual Academic Signing Day for students in the Sarasota-Manatee Chapter area who have elected to attend Florida A&M University for the upcoming school year. The event was held on Saturday, June 1st at the State College of Florida. Care packages from Alumni members were presented to Tristin Clark, Port Charlotte High School, Keiandra Williams, Bayshore High School, Todd Bellamy and Jamiren Spire, Booker High School. Keenan Wooten, vice president, and other local alumni spoke and gave the students some much needed advice on how to service in Tallahassee as a student. This year, the Chapter welcomed their first FAMU/SCF Ignite program student, Keiandra Williams. The Ignite program is a 2 plus 2 plus that gives students in the area another route and guaranteed admission to becoming a FAMU rattler. Student signed contracts that was a pledge that they will be committed to academics and graduate on time.
