SISTERS SOWING SEEDS HOLD SESSION

Sisters Sowing Seeds, Inc., a group organized for women and teenage girls, held their vision board session on January 14th.  The session brought the women and girls together to plan and work on their vision which will be produced in the first quarter of 2023.

“With Sisters Sowing Seeds, we want to exhibit compassion, meekness and patience while planting seeds of educational training and other skilled training to achieve beneficial careers paths for participants,” said Monica Donley, founder of the organization.  Sisters Sowing Seeds is a nonprofit corporation established in June of 2015 for charitable and educational purposes. Specifically, the organization is designed to provide services to the Sarasota–Bradenton area for teenage girls and women.  “It also provides service in the community with opportunities for them to improve their present circumstance and help create positive and productive lives,” Donley said.  “We also plan to hold seminars, conferences and small custom groups to motivate sisters to grow spiritually, educationally, economically, and socially,” Donley said.

Sisters Sowing Seeds was a vision Donley said she received from God over 25 years ago.

“The vision was about a full-service women’s program,” she said.  “I did not act on the vision until I was faced with some obstacles in my life.  It was then that I realized I had to move forward.  I met a retired lawyer who helped me get the organization’s 501c3 status, so I was on my way.”

Sisters’ empowerment sessions for the teenage girls are currently held at two local schools, Booker Middle School in Sarasota and Braden River Middle School in Bradenton.  A different curriculum is taught every six weeks.  The monthly sister sessions are open to other teenage girls.  Various topics are discussed and the girls get to participate in activities related to the topics.  Quarterly sister festivities are held which include a fun outing.  Currently, there are approximately 25 girls in the program.
