MANATEE COUNTY HELPS VOTERS REGISTER TO VOTE

Last weekend was all about getting returning felons and others registered to vote.   The Manatee Chapter Florida Restoration of Rights Coalition, and Manatee County Hope for Kids, headed up by Tracy Washington along with the Manatee County Democratic Black Caucus, headed up by Susie Copeland co-sponsored the event.   Approximately 15 returning felons and others were registered.

Earlier this year, through the efforts of the ACLU, FRRC, and Amendment 4 returning felons have the right to vote in the upcoming primary and general elections.  The deadline for registering to vote in the August 18th primary is July 20th.  It is strongly recommended that voters request mail-in ballots due to the current Covid-19 virus.   You may request a mail-in ballot from the Manatee County Supervisor of Elections by calling 941-741-3823.   Your vote is crucially important.   Please exercise it.

The event featured local vendors, free food and drinks, music and dancing, and local political candidates.   James Thomas (JT) provided music for the attendees.

If you would like more information about the FRRC and/or to find out about additional voter registration opportunities, you may contact Tracy Washington at 941-822-6892.  To find out more information about the Manatee Democratic Black Caucus, you may contact Susie Copeland at 941-447-2189.
