BPW NORTH SARASOTA HOLDS H’ATTITUDE LUNCHEON

Business and Professional Women of North Sarasota held its Sixteenth Scholarship Luncheon and Hat Show on Saturday, June 10 at Michael’s on East. The theme was ‘Sisters Strengthening Sisters” while “Puttin’ on the Ritz”.

BPW recognized three Women of the Year from Sarasota and Manatee County for their service to community and accomplishments in their respective careers.  This year’s honorees were Barbara Ann Bane, Dr. Sherika Evans and Angelia Gilley.

Bane is the Newtown Estates Club Director at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota and DeSoto Counties and has been with B&G Clubs for 16 years.  Dr. Evans is Executive Director of Suncoast School for Innovative Studies (SSIS) and the Executive Director for the VPK-8th grade charter school.  Gilley is an educator and worked with the Manatee County School system for 30 years, retiring from Bayshore High School.

            Business and Professional Women is the oldest and largest organization of working women the voice of the women’s movement for over 100 years.  BPW/North Sarasota was chartered in 1972 and meets on the second Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m.  Edwina “Wendy” White is president.
