BPW of Sarasota Presents Scholarships

            Business and Professional Women of North Sarasota recently presented their 2020 scholarship awards.  Scholarship recipients were Jaela Dennis and Amiyah Smith.

            Jaela graduated from Booker High School where she was She was in the Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) Program, a College for Every Student Ambassador, in the Key Club, a Student Government Association representative and played basketball all four years of high school.  She is President of the Sarasota County NAACP Youth Council and is the 2019 recipient of the Rising Star award presented by the Sarasota County Branch NAACP.  Jaela was active in the Safe Children Coalition Achievers, and participated in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Bradenton Alumnae Chapter’s Delta Gems Program.  She will attend Florida A&M University to study Cyber Security.

            Amiyah also graduated from Booker High School.  She was also a dual enrollment student at Suncoast Technical College and later this month, she will graduate from STC and will take the exam to become an LPN.  She will continue her education at State College of Florida in the RN program to obtain a BSN degree.

Founded in 1919, Business and Professional Women is the oldest and largest organization of working women in this country.  BPW/North Sarasota was chartered in 1972 will celebrate 48 years as an advocate for working women in the community.  For additional information about the local organization, visit the website at www.bpwsarasota.org.  Meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at the Betty J.
