KEEPING UP WITH MALACHI WIDEMAN

Two-sport phenom at Jackson State University

By: Ed James

Malachi Wideman X The Bluebloods

Two sport-phenom Malachi Wideman joined the BlueBloods Podcast for a one-on-one interview with Zach Mckinnell on January 5th.  Within five days his Youtube video surpassed that of the nation’s most publicized and, not to mention, number 1 recruit Travis Hunter, which was released 3 weeks ago. While I understand that Mal’s was a 1:1 interview while the podcast about Travis was only commentary about him, it still speaks to Malachi’s reach and unlimited star power.  His articulate, candid, and humble delivery with some more coaching will make him a very marketable athlete from now and into the near future. Below you will find the YouTube link to his interview on the BlueBloods Apple Podcast channel.

Wideman is on a roll as he led his JSU Tigers basketball team to their first SWAC win of the season. If you haven’t heard, Malachi dropped 13 points in 14 minutes in his first game with playing time (post football season) and last night scored 12 points with 2 insane dunks that hyped up his team to a 2nd half run against Prairie View A&M.  In just his freshman year he’s already 3rd all time in receiving touchdowns for Jackson State University. It’s only a matter of time before we hear his name being used in the same sentence as Charlie Ward, Deion Sanders, and Bo Jackson.

JSU Tigers basketball are on a roll as they beat a strong Texas Southern basketball team that defeated the University of Florida Gators earlier this season. Malachi Wideman punctuated the victory on Monday night with a monstrous slam dunk that got the crowd out of their seats in pure hysteria.  Check it out!
