Masala Giving Circle: Application Period Now Open

Masala Giving Circle President, Dale Booker, announces that the application period is now open for the 2023 Masala Giving Circle Grants. Applications are being accepted now through Dec. 31, 2022.  Masala Giving Circle helps to enhance culturally vibrant thriving African American/Black communities in Sarasota and Manatee Counties through grants.  Once a year, the organization gives grant awards and gifts to non-profit tax-exempt organization pursuant section 501(c)(3) that have a program(s) and/or services aligned with their mission.

Since the Circle was founded in 2013, grants and gifts have been awarded to the following organizations:  St. Vincent de Paul Cares, Newtown Mobile Pantries, D.I.V.A.S. of Sarasota, Inc., Habitat for Humanity, JFCS of the Suncoast, AMI/Kids, The Food Bank of Manatee, All Faiths Food Bank, J5 Experience, Inc., Hope Family Services, Inc., Newtown Nation, FUNducation-(S.T.E.A.M.), Dollar Dynasty, We Care Manatee, Inc., Truly Valued, Inc., Visible Men Academy, Newtown Nation, Manatee County 4-H  Association, Robert Taylor Community Complex, Five Pearls of Excellence, Inc., More Too Life and Suncoast Black Arts Collaborative.  Money for the grants is donated by the approximately 100 members of the Masala Giving Circle.

According to Dana Cunningham, co-chair of the Grants Committee,

“We choose grant recipients that best align with the Masala Giving Circle’s mission, which is to promote economic and personal empowerment through financial support for programs and initiatives that benefit African American/Black communities in Sarasota and Manatee Counties.”
