Parent Involvement… Ensuring Your Child’s Success

BY DAISY SAUNDERS

On Saturday, February 9th, Dr. Tracy Goodman will facilitate a parent involvement workshop, Ensuring Your Child’s Success, at the YMCA Achievers Annual Career Empowerment Summit. The Summit hosted by the University of South Florida Sarasota Manatee (USFSM) campus, located at 8350 N.

Tamiami Trail, will take place from 8:00- 1:00.

Pre-teens, teens, and parents are invited and encouraged to attend.

Dr. Goodman is the founder and owner of College? Yes! Inc., a firm that prepares juniors and seniors for college. Currently, she teaches College and Career Readiness at Booker High School. Dr. Goodman is committed to helping students face and overcome obstacles.

Everyday, she inspires teens and young adults to dream big and strive for higher levels of success – no matter the circumstances. In this highly interactive workshop, Dr. Goodman stresses the importance of parent involvement. She shares workable and commonsense strategies that will help parents/guardians identify specific actions they can take to ensure their child’s success – now and in the future.

The Career Empowerment Summit will offer five (5) concurrent workshops; 3 for students and 2 for parents.

Parents will have an opportunity to attend some of the student sessions which will include topics such as wellness and healthy living, personal finance, budgeting, and self-empowerment. All workshops are interactive and designed to help prepare pre-teens and teens for life after high school – whether college or a career.

Throughout the Summit, participants will be inspired, motivated, educated and entertained.

Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided. There will be lots of door prizes (for teens and parents) and a major raffle. For more information, please contact Jone Williams or Daisy Saunders at 941-914-1155 or jwilliams@thesarasotay.org or dsaunders@thesarasotay.org.
